The Food
Lastly and most important, it is always best to use caution when drinking and eating in a foreign country. Stomach upsets are the most common of travel-health problems, but are rarely severe.
Now, don't be afraid to try the local food. You'll miss out on some great stuff. Just use caution and be sure that any salads and fruits are thoroughly washed in purified water (or peeled when possible) before consuming them. Also, the basic rule for Fiji travelers is to be careful about drinking water in villages. Generally tap water is safe outside of villages, but if in doubt, drink bottled water, which is available everywhere.
