Mayan Vacations

Mayan vacations are ideal in that they are a perfect combination of rest, relaxation, and historical exploration. Unlike moat other island vacation spots that offer little else but sandy beaches and warm climates, Belize allows its guests the opportunity to discover ancient ruins and artifacts of a world long laid to rest. From the Lamanai Ruins to the ancient city of Tikal, Belize has lots to offer.

Planning Mayan Vacations:
If you are taking a trip to Ambergris Caye, I strongly recommend that you take at least one day to explore the Lamanai Ruins. The remnants of an ancient Mayan city, Lamanai Ruins are amazing to behold. A private tour costs approximately $115 per person. This might seem a steep cost but it is more than worth it. The tour includes a round trip boat ride to and from the mainland where the ruins are located, a private tour and lunch.

Another excellent Mayan adventure that I recommend is a trip to the city of Tikal. Located in the Peten district of Guatemala, this ancient city was discovered courtesy of years of excavation. In my opinion, a visit to this city is the ultimate in Mayan tours. The trip, unfortunately, isn't easy and requires a brief plane ride. If you are willing to brave the jungle, however, and provide approximately $250 dollars for the trip, you are guaranteed an excellent time.
