Passports should be valid for at least six months past the time you plan to leave Belize. In addition to updating passports before you leave for Belize, it is also a good idea to get a good bill of health from your doctor. Belize is, after all, a foreign country and if necessary you should bring an adequate supply of any medications you might need.
Currency wise, US dollars are typically accepted everywhere in Belize. The current exchange rate is US$1=BZ$2. In my opinion, I believe it is best to exchange your bills for Belize currency once you get there. Quite often unethical Belize merchants will overcharge if and when they see US dollars. If you insist on keeping US money, do yourself a favor and only carry small bills.
