There are all sorts of things to do while visiting Belize Cayes. From relaxing in the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea to exploring Mayan ruins, Belize offers so much more than many other tropical vacation destinations. As someone who has taken numerous trips to Belize, I believe I am more than qualified to offer some activities trips. If you are planning a trip there any time soon, I encourage you to read on!
Activities in Belize Cayes:
As we've discussed in previous pages, diving in and about the barrier reef in Belize is an activity that I strongly recommend. However, if, diving does not appeal to you then I suggest that you take a snorkel trip. While safely floating atop the waters of the Caribbean Sea, you can get a first-hand glimpse of the treasures below. Snorkeling is a terrific activity in that you can just as easily do it off the shore in front of your resort as the dock of a chartered snorkel boat.
If water sports aren't your cup of tea, then I suggest you pull on your hiking books and head out for an exploration of some of the island's Mayan centers such as Altunj Ha or Xunantunich. Dating back some 2,000 years, the Altun Ha ruins are quite a spectacle to behold. Guided tours cost approximately $60, after which you can grab a bite to eat at one of the area's charming restaurants.
Given all the history associated with Belize in addition to its magnificent geography, I truly believe it to be the ideal vacation spot.
