The Prague public transportation system is very convenient and reliable for getting around the city to find all of those historic buildings, shops, and museums you'll likely want to visit. The primary options available are the metro, tram, and buses. On some travel internet sites you can find schedules and routes.
Prague Public Transportation Options
The most commonly used Prague public transportation is the metro. There are three tracks of about 30 miles in length running across the city and 50 stations to board. It runs at approximately three minute intervals during the busy hours of the day.
The trams are a great way to get around the city and are maybe a little cleaner than the metro. They run at intervals of eight to 10 minutes from 4:30am to 12:00am. Some of these routes even have terrific views of the city.
The bus system runs the same hours as the tram, but at six to eight minute intervals during the week and intervals of 15-20 minutes on weekends. If you plan to lodge in the outskirts of town, the bus will be your best option for commuting to the historic and business districts. Overall, the Prague public transportation system is sufficient to travel about the city with ease should you choose not to rent a vehicle.
