Czech Republic Castles

Czech Republic castles attract visitors from all over the world to explore these wondrous architectural feats. Including chateaus, there are at least 2000 preserved castles in the country! Guided tours are available for many of them and I definitely recommend the experience--for at least one.

The country's oldest, largest, and most important of these is Prague Castle. Its genesis dates back to the ninth century and has been the residence of Czech rulers ever since. Additions were made through the years and, consequently, the castle represents a diverse amalgam of architectural styles.

Exploring Czech Republic Castles
There are other Czech Republic castles throughout the country. The Karlstejn, Konopiste, and Cesky Krumlov Castles are a few of the most culturally and historically significant ones. Many of them are home to invaluable paintings, sculptures, and jewelry. On guided tours you'll get to hear the amazing stories behind these ancient constructions.

The best times to visit Czech Republic castles are between April and November. During the winter months many of them are open only limited hours or closed all together. Prague Castle is the only one that's open all year round.
