Quietly elegant, Princess vessels are known for cruising in style and comfort. Passengers enjoy understated yet lovely lounges, atriums, and fully equipped spas on the newest vessels in the fleet. Princess Cruises is known for hosting the original "Love Boat" cruise; these are still ongoing - a highlight of every one is the festive champagne waterfall. Princess Cruises offers a large number of staterooms with private balconies, yet even the least expensive inside categories have ample storage and the use of bathrobes and hairdryers.
Personal Choice Cruising is a new Princess innovation, and they specialize in flexible menus. The option of choosing from two traditional dinner "seatings" or open seating in the ship dining rooms affords passengers the choice of dining when they wish and with whom they please. Casual alternative dining options, specialty restaurants, a Pizzeria, and 24-hour room service offer selections as diverse as those available in resorts ashore. Personal Choice Dining has been introduced throughout the fleet, with the exceptions of Pacific Princess, Royal Princess, Crown Princess, and Regal Princess.
Princess Cruises: A Tradition of Leadership in the Industry
Princess Cruises in the past have been known for fostering an aura of romance, and they still retain some of the old flavor of 1960s cruises. Formal attire is suggested for select evenings. As a special treat, during the week of February 14th, a "Love Boat National Holiday" is scheduled with a Renewal of Vows ceremonies and other Valentine's Day activities, which makes a Princess liner an excellent choice for a honeymoon cruise or wedding cruise.
Princess Cruises attracts mostly American cruise passengers, usually couples ranging from mid-30s to mid-50s. Families enjoy cruising on the Princess fleet, particularly in the Caribbean and Bermuda during holiday seasons and summer months. Alaska is also becoming a popular family destination. Princess's longer cruises and more exotic itineraries generally attract veteran passengers and retirees. In terms of a family-friendly atmosphere, for a nominal charge, group babysitting is available in the evenings and when ships are in port; however, there is no in-cabin babysitting. Youth counselors are only available on the Royal Princess when 15 or more children are sailing.
