In my experience, historic lodging is great, and it's an exciting alternative to staying at a regular hotel. I tell you, there's nothing like staying in a big, Victorian B and B. Staying in them has, in a way, become a hobby of mine. I one day hope to write a book about my travels to the many Colorado bed and breakfast inns and the one castle B and B that I've stayed at.
In my line of work you have to travel a lot. There's no way around it. I don't like leaving the comfort of my home, but I have to. I find historic lodging to be the best choice for me when I'm looking for a place to stay. It gives me a nice, warm feeling to stay at one of these places, because of, well, all the history tied up in such a place.
Historic Lodging Can Be Like a Second Home
These places can be like a second home for me. They're just so darn cozy, warm, and welcoming that you can't help but like them. I take strolls around the yard so I can watch the sunset, enjoy a fine cigar, and contemplate life for a little while. It really eases one's mind to do this once and while, and the atmosphere of historic lodging compared to a modern hotel really helps me to unwind.
The food is also wonderful. A good home cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, black coffee, orange juice, ham, sausages, and whatever else you can imagine really gets your day off to a great start! Denver dining is also quite wonderful, so it does pay to venture away from your lodgings every once in a while.
