Castle lodging can be exciting if you've never done it before. I stayed in a castle bed and breakfast awhile ago and it was incredible. The place was actually a national historic landmark! It was very cool to be in this old, beautiful castle and spend the night there.

The atmosphere and energy of the castle was incredible. The main dining hall was like something out of a movie, with one of those really long tables, and the staff would walk in and serve you food. It was quite an experience and one that I've yet to duplicate! The pictures and home movies I took of the place turned out great and everyone I told seemed very excited about it. My neighbor now plans to have his honeymoon at a castle.

When a friend tells me that they are looking for a romantic getaway, I will usually direct them to something unique. Most people are totally unaware that they can stay in a historic castle right here in the U.S.
