Owners rely on tourism for a huge portion of their income, if not all of it, so it is courteous to plan in advance so that they too can plan their schedules. Remember, as with any lodging or accommodations, a deposit is required to hold the property. Should you cancel your reservation on short notice, many cottage owners retain the right to keep your deposit since they have essentially lost potential business.
