On the really busy nights, Thursday through Saturday, you might have to wait in a line or two, but they are well worth it.
A great place to start for the newcomer is St Laurent Boulevard. There are dozens of places that you can get a cold drink with a few hundred of your newest found friends. This magnificent street has every venue imaginable and does not stop all night. After hours clubs keep things rolling until the break of dawn.
The nightlife is not reserved solely for the partiers. If you are looking for a great night on the town for dinner and drinks without a crowd, there are plenty of nice restaurants and personal lounges that can set the mood. Montreal has the diversity in venues to keep everybody happy.
