Northern Ontario offers fantastic fishing since it is literally surrounded by bodies of water--to the south is Lake Superior and Lake Huron, to the north is the Tundra, the Ottawa River is to the east and the Manitoba border is to the west. These waters are loaded with walleye, bass, pike, and trout. Many come to fish for bass in the summer and splake during the winter months.
There are also a number of canoe excursions that can be booked so that you may fish one lake and easily move on to another. These excursions are a hit with fishermen since they offer sights of Ontario's unique wilderness, flora and fauna. There are normally no additional fees associated with using a canoe. Many times, cottages will also provide boats if you do not have your own. Depending on the resort, there may or may not be additional fees associated with the use of a resort-owned boat.
Aside from some of the world's best fishing, you will also enjoy the quiet solitude and magnificent surroundings. You can also engage in fishing at any time of day. In fact, if you are not having too much luck during daylight hours, cottage owners will often encourage you to go back out after sunset to try your luck again.
