Acadia National Park gets a lot of attention from tourists. It's one of the main attractions of Acadia as a whole, containing a wide variety of plant life and rock formations. Truly an amazing natural wonder, it is typical of what makes Maine unique, but it isn't alone.
Acadia: Let's Cover Some Ground!
Big doesn't quite say it when you're talking about the 46,000 acres that comprise Acadia. Thirty thousand of those acres are accounted for by Mount Desert Island, which includes both the national park and Bar Harbor. Isle au Haut, Shoodic Peninsula and over 10,000 acres of conservation easements make up the remainder of this impressive landscape.
There are over 22 lakes and ponds within this great expanse, and Maine citizens have worked hard to preserve their natural beauty. There are also 26 mountain ranges dotted across the area. When it comes to seeing the magnificence of nature, Acadia is hard to beat.
New England has learned to embrace their visitors and truly make them feel welcome. Far from being some tourist trap, even the Bar Harbor hotels have been designed with an eye for fitting in appropriately with the area. When you return home, it will be in a state of rest with a profound appreciation for what this green Earth has to offer.
