Bahamas Vacation Homes

A vacation in the Bahamas can be a bit of a paradox: on the one hand, there are so many exciting activities that most tourists have to return again and again in order to experience every adventure the islands have to offer. On the other hand, some locations in the Bahamas--particularly the less populated islands like Long Island--are so beautiful and serene that sometimes all one wants to do is relax on the beach for days at a time. Many tourists and retirees have found that the best way to solve this Bahamian paradox is to purchase their own vacation home on one of the islands.

Owning--as opposed to renting--Bahamas vacation homes has some special advantages. The first is financial: people who own their vacation homes can build equity in their properties. Additionally, renting out one's vacation home when one is not using it is a great way to get a return on one's investment. Another advantage to owning a vacation home in the Bahamas is that one never has to worry about finding lodgings during the busier times of year. The Long Island Sailing Regatta, for instance, draws big crowds once a year. But for those who own their own vacation homes on Long Island, the crowds are not a problem.

East Coasters' Weekend Getaways
A home in the Bahamas makes an excellent weekend getaway for people living on the East Coast of the United States. Flights are short from New York to the Bahamas, and D.C. residents can enjoy the same convenience. Nothing counteracts a frigid East Coast cold snap like a weekend in the Bahamas. The water is clear and warm, the breezes are mild, and the scenery is breathtaking.

In the Southern and Midwestern regions of the United States, a weekend on the Gulf Coast is a popular vacation destination. Some go for the swimming, some for the sailing, and some for the fishing. A vacation home in the Bahamas provides the same options for its visitors, the main difference being that the islands of the Bahamas are even more pristine than the Gulf Coast of the United States and Mexico. In a sense, it could be said that the people living on the East Coast are getting the better end of the deal.
