Sedona Vacations

When taking a Sedona vacation, one should always take a trip to Slide Rocks State Park. This is particularly true if you are taking a family vacation, but you can be a party of one or two and still tremendously enjoy an excursion here. Kids love it here most of all, and for adults this park needs to be seen to be believed.

A Sedona Highlight: Slide Rocks Park
This natural wonder is like Mother Nature's water-slide park (which explains why it is so popular with kids). For a length of a few hundreds yards, there is a series of smooth, flat rocks and pools. The rocks are perfect for sliding down. Nestled in the tall, red cliffs of the Oak Creek Canyon, it is like no water park you've ever visited.

Surrounding the slides are a number of hiking trails. Actually, if you park farther away from the main parking area and make a short hike, you can reach the Slide Rocks without having to pay for parking. This is not just a way to get out of paying for parking--it's a way to make a visit to Slide Rocks an all day event.

Along a certain hike, you'll find an old home from 1907 and old farm equipment as well. Due to its popularity, it's recommended that you get to the park early. It can be filled with thousands of people at peak hours. In addition, it's advised that you use caution--the rocks may be fun but they can be very slippery as well. After all, that's what makes it fun!
