Sedona, Arizona has some of the finest hotels in the state. Yet even the finest hotels are not all alike. For one, not all Sedona hotels will be "green" hotels. These hotels are members of the Green Hotel Association, which promises to promote an environmentally conscious mindset in terms of how its member hotels are run.
There is a lot of water waste in the hotel industry. For example, when linens are washed daily, a large strain is placed on natural resources. A green hotel will only wash linens every three days instead of every day. However, if you prefer to have the sheets and towels washed daily, you can. However, simply providing guests with that option can save thousands of gallons of water.
Hotels have become remarkably adept at dealing with water shortages and in encouraging both guests and employees to conserve resources. Some hotels boats sophisticated water-heating systems so that a shower will not run for a long time before it heats up. In addition, toilets are filled to a low-water capacity. The same goes for electricity usage in all parts of these hotels. In addition, recycling is a daily practice.
The Difference with Green Hotels
The amazing thing about green hotels is that there is no discernible difference from a non-green hotel. You'll feel like you're at any other resort. Some people unfairly assume that a green hotel will be stingy with the resources or that the stay will be less than pleasant. All such ideas are completely unfounded. It is not as though the rooms are unduly dim and the shower comes out at a trickle! Sedona hotels are at the forefront of environmental conservation and hopefully other American hotels will soon follow suit. If you'll be staying in Sedona in the near future, look for a green hotel. Every small action we can take to preserve the environment and our resources is merited.
