It wasn't so long ago that if and when you wanted to find cheap travel packages, you had little choice but to consult your local travel agent. This travel agent would then find the right deal, charge a service fee, and then send you on your way. Thanks to the internet, however, those days are no longer. Now when you want to find cheap travel deals, you can hop online and get them yourself!

Travel Agents: Not What They Used to Be
As someone who once relied heavily on travel agents to help with my travel needs, I am thrilled that the internet has enabled me to start doing things myself. Now when I want to travel, I need not leave a message at my agent's office and wait for the call to be returned. These days all it takes is the click of a few buttons in order for me to find my own travel deals and eliminate any travel agent fees.

The more you practice looking for travel deals online, the easier it is to find those deals. Last week, for instance, I had to make a last minute business trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Because I was pushed for time, I enlisted the help of a travel agent to look for airfare while I did the same online. In less than ten minutes I found a $60 roundtrip ticket. This fare beat the one my agent offered when she called back nearly two hours later.

The only travel agents worth using these days, in my opinion, are the automated ones offered online.
