Galapagos Travel

Galapagos travel can bring any tourist or nature enthusiast to the world's most unique collection of evolutionary anomalies. Known for having some of the most exotic and bizarre wildlife in the world, the Galapagos have been an international curiosity since Charles Darwin first landed on the islands in the early 1800's. There are many cruises and expeditions available to the consumer who wishes to experience the famous islands for themselves.

Galapagos travel is usually dedicated to the observation of and interaction with the islands' many unique forms of wildlife. Since many of the birds and animals of the Galapagos do not exist anywhere else in the world, naturalists, bird-watchers, researchers, and more have congregated on the islands since it so famously documented by Charles Darwin in the evolutionary science journals of the day. To preserve such a unique habitat, the vast majority of the land constituting the Galapagos is considered protected as a designated national park.

Galapagos Travel: Animals, Plants, and Other Wonders
There are many particular animals visible through Galapagos travel that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. The most famous of these is the Giant Tortoise, which is the longest-living animal known to man. Also, before they tragically became extinct, the famed Dodo made its home on the islands of Galapagos.

Aside from merely the animals, the Galapagos is also home to unique plants and geologic formations. Volcanic bodies are active all over the shores of Galapagos, causing changing ecological conditions and beautiful rock formations. As for plants, the scalesia (or "tree daisy") grows as a product of this volcanic activity, as do many other plants above and below the surface of the water and along the shores of Galapagos.
